Important update – event postponement

It has been a difficult decision to take but given the uncertainty around the extent of the impact of Coronavirus we have decided to postpone the Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards Gala Dinner 2020.

Whilst at present there is no official guidance to cancel events or gatherings, there is a financial risk of cancelling at the last minute. We know how concerned the hospitality sector is just now and we don’t want to add to that problem and a sense of ‘shutdown’.  However, it is going to be a tough period in the short term for our businesses and their workforce, so moving the date to September makes much more sense from their perspective too.

The 2020 Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards ceremony will now take place on Thursday 10 September at the EICC in Edinburgh. All tickets purchased for the May date will be honoured for the rescheduled September date.

Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you at the EICC in September when we can get back to raising a glass and celebrating the success of our food and drink industry.

FAQs
Q: Do you have a new date set for the awards?

A: Yes. The new date is Thursday 10 September 2020

Q: How did you reach the decision to postpone the event?

A: This was a difficult decision to take. We have been in discussion with the EICC about the event and whilst at present there is no official guidance to cancel events we have reached a contractual milestone that means, if we were forced to cancel nearer the time due to a worsening situation, we would face a substantial cancellation cost.

Q: Will all entries remain valid?

A: Yes.  The judging will take place as usual and then the results will be kept under wraps until September

Q: Will you re-open for entries?

A: No we are not accepting further entries as our judging process and timings remain in place.

Q: When will the finalists be announced?

A: We have completed distilling and brewing judging and are liaising with partners and following Government advice on when we can conduct all other tasted judging. We currently haven’t confirmed a date for this. Finalists will be announced once all judging has taken place.

Q: Will the venue be the same in September?

A: Yes. This year we are back at the EICC.

Q: Will tickets purchased for May be honoured for the September date?

A: Yes all tickets already purchased are fully transferable

Q: Are tickets still available to buy?

A: Yes, tickets still be bought by clicking here.

Q: What if I’ve already bought a ticket but I can not make the new date?

A: Please get in touch with our events team at events@foodanddrink.scot

Q: What will happen if September has to be cancelled too?

A:  As there is such universal uncertainty around the impact of Coronavirus we will need to follow UK & Scottish Government guidance nearer the time. If in the unfortunate situation where the event has to be cancelled we will refund all ticket sales.

Q: Who should I contact if I have further questions?

A: Please contact our events team at events@foodanddrink.scot or 0131 335 0940
